A great example of inspiring mums throughout the mothering journey to sparkle and shine

I am always delighted to give my support to liked-minded people who want to make motherhood as amazing as possible. Through business networking, a number of years ago, I was introduced to Angelita Woosnam, who has an incredible gift as a holistic therapist. I highly recommend her massages. Late last year I noticed on Twitter, the feeds for a new organisation that aimed to be ‘Inspiring mums throughout the mothering journey to sparkle and shine’. As this blends with my ideals and the title of my first book ‘Eyes without Sparkle – a journey through postnatal illness’, I contacted them at Mother Well CIC.

I was thrilled to discover that Angelita was one of the directors, along with Kate Blakemore. The three of us met at my local teashop, JTO Vintage tea rooms and enjoyed getting to know each other.

The outcome was that they invited me to speak and officially open their support group for postnatal mothers. ‘Mums Uniting Mums’ is a peer support group facilitated by trained volunteers meeting every second Friday in Crewe. They can gain support from other mums and find out what support helped them through. Guest speakers will be attending on an adhoc basis.

On 10th March I joined them for an event to celebrate International Women’s Day in Crewe. This celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women.

Crewe Chronicle (click for full article) reported that

‘Motherwell CIC, in conjunction with the town council and MMU, hosted Crewe Women’s Day across the town on Thursday.

The event, the first of its kind in town, was organised to bring all the agencies and support services designed for women, together.

Crewe Library was at the centre of the action with representations from organisations such as Homestart, Creative Action Team, Body Positive, the MMU Suffragette Exhibition and Hope Church.’
