I am thrilled that some of the team involved in another support group will be coming along to the Perinatal Mental Health conference and exhibition at Salford on 23rd September.

“Cocoon Family Support is a London based charity. We support families affected by perinatal mental health issues. We provide a safe and supportive environment where families can get together with others who may be feeling similar to themselves, in various location across London. We provide a range of services to aid and support recovery.

We are very pleased to announce that our founder, Jessica Warne, has been invited to speak at the launch of Elaine Hanzak’s new book, “Another Twinkle In The Eye: Contemplating another pregnancy after perinatal mental illness”. We will be talking specifically about our use of creative therapies and the benefit of creativity and art in our support programs.

Jessica has always used creativity in her work at Cocoon, working alongside various specialists to provide appropriate, supportive and beneficial one off workshops and courses.

We will be presenting at the conference the work we have done with families and discussing how these techniques have helped support families and encouraged their journey towards wellness.

We will be talking in particular about our use of art therapy, drama therapy, music therapy and photography.

Here is a beautiful photograph taken by a mother who is currently using our service. This was taken during a recent photography workshop where mothers were asked to walk with us through a local park and choose a subject they could relate to. During Jessica’s presentation she will be discussing why the mother chose this flower as her subject, she will also share how the explanation was a positive turning point in that mothers recovery. We look forward to sharing with you more photographs from that powerful workshop.

Cocoon Family Support will also be exhibiting at the conference. Pop over to our stand where we will be handing out information on our workshops and courses and how you might be ale to integrate the use of creative therapies into the care you provide for families.
