My inbox and phone are currently very hot with a stream of messages regarding the conference next Wednesday – ‘Another twinkle in the Eye – contemplating another pregnancy after perinatal mental illness’.

Another Twinkle in the Eye

One shock on Friday was that Old Trafford have remembered they have a match on that evening and wanted us out of the rooms in time for them to set up! With the full and exciting programme we have, this is not possible. Instead we are simply a few steps away at Hotel Football. A very shiny new hotel that I am sure will be great!

All of the speakers (look at the agenda) are now in the process of sending their slides and information ready for the day; travel and accommodation is being sorted.

I confess that my emotions are rather all over the place! I have a mixture of pride at the book being published; gratitude for all those involved in the creation of this book and the many involved in arranging the event next week; joy at bringing together people who share my passion for perinatal mental health and enabling other survivors to be able to share their stories to help others; excitement at what I hope will be a wonderful day.

I also have the concerns that anyone who has ever put an event on will have – will it all go to plan? Have all the ‘i’s been dotted and ‘t’s crossed? Will everyone find the venue okay? I am waking in the night and visualising it all!

This time next week I shall be at the venue with some of my family and ready to meet some of the speakers too. I am thrilled at being able to meet some incredible people whom I have been in contact with over the last 10 years and never met until now. That thought REALLY makes me smile!

This week is very busy as I have spoken at a local event this morning for the People’s Voice; tomorrow I am part of a meeting at the Nursing and Midwifery Council; Thursday I will be at the Marce Society event and Friday joining other speakers and students at the Huddersfield University Midwifery Students Conference!
